The traveller’s cash

If you arrive in the EU territory or you leave the EU territory and have cash worth 10 000 euros or more with you, declare the money to Customs. The cash declaration form and more detailed instructions are available on the Customs website. Finnish Customs does not require a declaration if you are travelling only within the EU territory.

By controlling movements of cash, Finnish Customs aims to detect means transported across the external border of the EU and related to money laundering or financing of terrorism. Customs detector dogs specialised in searching for cash are used as aids in the searches.

More information on traveller’s cash is available on the Customs website
